Foreign Employment Department Implements Automated Re-employment Permit System

Kathmandu. Workers wishing to continue their work in the same country and the same company for foreign employment will now be able to get re-employment permits through an automated system. The Department of Foreign Employment has implemented an automated system for issuing such permits, eliminating the need for employee involvement.

Issuing a press release on Monday, the department stated that this decision has been made with the objective of making foreign employment safe, dignified, and organized. Currently, approximately 20,000 workers take re-employment permits every month.

Workers will have to fulfill certain conditions to avail this facility. These include a passport with at least 3 months remaining validity, a valid visa, a contract agreement, and periodic life insurance. The department has also made it mandatory to have a receipt for the deposit of funds in the Social Security Fund and the Foreign Employment Welfare Fund.
