Nepal Defeats Sri Lanka 2-0 to Top Group B in SAFF Women's Championship

Kathmandu. Nepal has entered the semi-finals as group winners by defeating Sri Lanka in the SAFF Women's Championship football competition.

In their final group stage match held on Sunday at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa, India, Nepal secured a 2-0 victory over Sri Lanka. Nepal remained at the top of Group 'B'.

Having played two matches, Nepal achieved a 100% success rate, becoming group winners with 6 points. Nepal had defeated Bhutan 1-0 in their first group stage match.

Similarly, Bhutan has advanced to the semi-finals as the runner-up from Group 'B'. Bhutan became the runner-up of the competition by accumulating three points and reached the semi-finals.

In today's match, Rashmikumari Ghising and Renuka Nagarkoti scored one goal each for Nepal. Rasmi scored in the first half, while Renuka added a goal in the second half. In the first half's added time, Rasmi utilized a pass from Rekha Poudel inside the penalty area to score. Similarly, in the 60th minute of the game, Renuka scored.

Her shot from outside the penalty area found the net. With today's loss, Sri Lanka has been eliminated from the competition.
