Nepal Land and Housing Development Association Chairman Demands Facilitation for Real Estate Business

Kathmandu. Chairman of the Nepal Land and Housing Development Association, Engineer Deepak Kunwar, has demanded necessary facilitation to make the real estate business dynamic.

On the occasion of the 19th Annual General Meeting of the Nepal Land and Housing Development Association, he drew attention to the existing challenges in the real estate sector and the policy steps that the government should take.

Chairman Kunwar said that due to the ambiguity of government policy, 'real estate' businessmen have fallen into crisis, and this has also made access to housing for common citizens difficult. "Due to unclear policies, businessmen have reached a situation where they have to close their businesses, which is a frightening situation for the economic prosperity of the country," he said.

Chairman Kunwar demanded that 'real estate' companies be exempted from land ceiling for planned settlement development and that legal obstacles in the sale of constructed houses and apartments be removed.

The temporary facilitation currently seen in land plotting should be resolved in the long term, companies with 'planning' permits should be given facilities similar to urban development committees to conduct 'land pooling' and 'house pooling' programs, the Integrated Urban Development Act and Land Code should be enacted, and transparency and swift procedures should be ensured by implementing an electronic system in the land revenue and survey offices, he demanded.

Chairman Kunwar said, "These demands are not only in the interest of businessmen but also necessary for the overall socio-economic development of the nation. Therefore, cooperation between the private sector and the government is necessary to make Nepal modern through safe, sustainable, and inclusive urbanization."
