Nepal Tharu Sangh Inaugurates First Convention

Kathmandu. The first convention of the Nepal Tharu Sangh, affiliated with the Nepali Congress, is scheduled to begin today. Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa will inaugurate the convention today at 12:15 PM at the central office of the Nepali Congress in Sanepa, Lalitpur.

The Sangh has stated that it is organizing its first convention with nationality, democracy, socialism, and the unity of the Tharu community as its core foundation. The convention aims to further strengthen, organize, and make the organization more effective, and to institutionally advance the political, social, cultural, and economic issues of the Tharu community.

This first convention of the Tharu Sangh is being viewed as an important opportunity for organizational building and leadership transition. The convention is expected to elect a new leadership and determine the future course and policies.

A significant participation of top leaders of the Nepali Congress, prominent personalities from the Tharu community, representatives from various districts, and well-wishers is expected at the inauguration ceremony of the convention.

According to the leaders of the Sangh, the convention is being organized with the objective of raising the issues of the Tharu community's rights, entitlements, identity, language, culture, and representation strongly, and to make the organization more active in protecting democratic values and norms.

The convention is expected to organize the Tharu community and further strengthen the role and participation of the Tharu community within the Nepali Congress.

Along with the inauguration ceremony, extensive discussions on the organization's future strategies, policies, and programs will be held in various sessions of the convention.

Hundreds of leaders and cadres from the Tharu community have already arrived in Kathmandu for the convention, the Congress central office has informed.
