Six Chinese Films to Screen in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. Six Chinese films that were selected as excellent at the Beijing International Film Festival will be screened in Nepal. Under the Beijing International Film Festival promotion program 'Tiantan Award Panorama', 6 films are scheduled to be shown in Kathmandu from June 2 to 4 (Jestha 19 to 21).

The China Film Administration and the Beijing International Film Festival have decided to screen the films in collaboration with the Nepal Film and Cultural Foundation. For this, the Chinese Cultural Center in Kathmandu, as well as the Confucius Institutes of Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, and Lumbini Buddhist, have also provided assistance.

All 6 films will be screened for a fee at Chhaya Center in Thamel, according to the Nepal management, the Film and Cultural Foundation. K.P. Pathak, Chairman of the Foundation, stated that they are involved with the objective of expanding the relationship between Nepali filmmakers and the Chinese film industry.

Three films are scheduled to be shown on the first day of the program. The first film to be screened at 11:30 AM is 'Trap'. It is based on the story of a gangster who escaped from prison a year before the gun ban in China in 1995 and caused chaos in the city. The director of this crime thriller is Sagar Zhang.

It had won awards for Best Screenplay and Supporting Actor at the Beijing International Film Festival. Director Zhang will also have a Q&A session with the audience. The film 'Beyond the Skies', directed by Zihai Liu, which will start screening at 3 PM, is a war film. The director of the film 'Summer Diary', which will be screened from 5 PM, is Wu Shuang. This film is based on the journey of a character searching for his mother.

Similarly, the film 'Lost in the Stars', directed by Rui Kui and Siyang Liu, is scheduled to be screened. This film is based on the mysterious incident of a pregnant woman going missing. Zhang Lu directed 'The Shadowless Tower', a film based on a love story. The science fiction film 'Journey to the West', directed by Dashang Kong, will be screened. This film, based on the story of searching for aliens, is made in a satirical documentary style.
