Three New Nepali Films Release Today

Kathmandu. Today, three new Nepali films have been released. The films are ‘Roll No. 1’, ‘Kumbh’ and ‘Shape of Momo’. Maintaining the tradition of Friday release, these three films are ready to clash with each other across the country.

Among the three, the film ‘Roll No. 1’ has got more shows. ‘Roll No. 1’ has been made focusing on educational issues, while ‘Kumbh’ has been made on an action story. ‘Shape of Momo’ has raised the stories of women from rural areas.

‘Roll No. 1’

The film ‘Roll No. 1’ is based on the story of parents’ struggle for their children’s happiness and bright future. The film, which also shows the negative impact of the education system on child psychology and its effect on their overall life, has been produced by Binod Poudel.

Mukun Bhusal, Sushank Mainali, Renu Yogi and Sirjana Adhikari are in the lead roles. Child artists Nirbhik Regmi, Rinchen Lama, Sayam Katwal, Sijal Shrestha are in the lead roles in the film. The producers of the film are Binod Poudel and Janvi Poudel. Prashant Shikoti has composed the music for the film. The film is being distributed by Rich Entertainment and JM Cinema. It is expected that the film will do good business as it has been promoted in schools.

‘Shape of Momo’

The film ‘Shape of Momo’, directed by young Sikkimese film director Triveni Rai, features the performances of late Bhanu Maya Rai, Gaumaya Gurung, Pashupati Rai, Rahul Mukhiya and Shyamashree Sherpa.

The film, produced by Dalli Khorasani Production and co-produced by Kathakala Films, presents the story of life, relationships, silence, emotional legacy and identity of three generations of women in a Himalayan village of Sikkim.

The film has been screened at prestigious international film festivals including the ‘Busan International Film Festival and San Sebastian International Film Festival’. The film has received awards and accolades at these festivals. Executive producer Zoya Akhtar said that the film has presented the lives of Sikkimese women in a very intimate and authentic way.

‘Kumbh’

The film ‘Kumbh’, based on action-drama, features the performances of actors including Ashok Aryan, Sunil Thapa, Sushil Pokharel, Rohit Rumaba, Srishti Khadka, Afsana Thapa.

The film, which also features South Indian actor Surendra Thakur, has been directed by Randhir Shrestha. The film has been shot in various locations in Nepal and South India.
