Army Conducts Disaster Management Exercise 'Manasoon-6' on Mahakali River

Mahendranagar. The Nepali Army has conducted a disaster management and rescue exercise 'Exercise Manasoon-6' on the Mahakali River in Aairi, Bhimdatta Municipality-12, Kanchanpur.

The rescue model exercise, organized by the Nepali Army's Barahdal Gulm, Bhagatpur Barracks, showcased rescue operations and damage mitigation during disasters to the local community.

Barahdal Gulm's Gulma Niyanta Senani Ashok Shahi stated that the model exercise was conducted with the objective of informing the general public about rescue and damage mitigation. "We have gathered to manage potential floods and natural disasters in the Mahakali River area," said Senani Shahi. He informed that the army's technical team is always ready with the necessary equipment for rescue during disasters. Rescue teams from the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force also demonstrated a joint exercise with the Nepali Army.

Similarly, Durga Dutta Bohara, Chief of the District Coordination Committee Kanchanpur, emphasized that the area along the banks of the Mahakali River is at risk of floods and disasters, and local citizens must be vigilant during the monsoon. Bohara mentioned that many citizens have lost their lives while swimming or playing in the Mahakali River, and advised against activities like collecting firewood in the floodwaters, which put lives at risk during the monsoon.

The program was attended by Durga Dutta Bohara, Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Chief District Officer Madan Koirala, and Bahini Niyanta Sahayak Rathi Bijitraj Regmi of No. 25 Bahini Adda, along with officials from the District Security Committee.

Non-governmental organizations, including the Nepal National Social Welfare Association (NNSWA), also collaborated in the army's model exercise.
