Seriously Ill Postpartum Woman Rescued by Helicopter from Gorkha

Gorkha. A seriously ill postpartum woman from the remote Dharche Rural Municipality of northern Gorkha has been rescued by helicopter. Assistant Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma informed that postpartum woman Vimla BK, a resident of Kerauja, Dharche Rural Municipality-2, was rescued by a Nepali Army helicopter and taken to Paropakar Maternity Hospital in Thapathali, Kathmandu.

Assistant Chief District Officer Sharma informed that 24-year-old BK was rescued due to severe illness (eclampsia) during childbirth. BK had given birth 13 days ago. However, she suddenly fell ill this morning and required immediate intensive care, necessitating the rescue, informed Amrit Ghale of the Dharche Health Branch.

"Given the risk of death if not treated immediately in the ICU in this condition, she was rescued by helicopter and taken to Kathmandu around 2:00 PM," he said, "The postpartum woman's condition is still serious. We have also sent a health worker from Kerauja Health Post and a patient attendant on the same helicopter."
