MP Sah Criticizes Government Over Tax and Service Disparity

Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party MP Deepak Kumar Sah has made a sarcastic remark that the government is taking taxes like Europe and providing facilities like Somalia. 

Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday, Sah, who is also the former Minister of Labour and Employment, said that there is no consensus on taxes and facilities. 

“I have to say with regret, the current government is taking taxes like Europe and providing facilities like Somalia,” said MP Sah. 

He stated that the government's well-being lies in the happiness of the people and demanded that the provision of 1 percent tax on annual income up to 5 lakh rupees, which the government is currently collecting, should be changed. “There is a provision of 1 percent tax on annual income up to 5 lakh rupees. Let that be increased to 10 to 12 lakh rupees from this budget,” said Sah. 

He urged for a balance in other matters, stating that inflation has increased by 38 to 40 percent in the last 5 years and salaries have increased by only 15 percent.
