Israel Seeks 2300 Nepali Workers for Caregiving Roles

Kathmandu. Israel, an attractive destination for foreign employment, has sought Nepali workers. According to the labor agreement between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Israel, the Department of Foreign Employment has called for applications for a total of 2300 people to work as assistant workers in long-term care centers in Israel.

According to the notice published by the department on Wednesday, 60 percent women (1380 people) and 40 percent men (920 people) will be selected from the total number. Selected Nepali citizens will have to assist in the care of the elderly and disabled in various group housing or individual apartments in Israel.

For this employment, the age of interested candidates should be between 25 years completed and not exceeding 45 years. In terms of physical qualifications, the standard set is that the candidate's height should be at least 1.5 meters (4 feet 11 inches) and weight should be at least 45 kilograms.

Regarding educational qualifications, one must have passed at least class 10 and completed at least 15 months of study in Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) or Community Medicine Assistant (CMA) related subjects. If not, one must have obtained at least 10+2 or equivalent educational qualification and completed at least three months of training in caregiving from a training provider institution recognized by the Government of Nepal. 

In addition, the candidate should not have worked in Israel in the past and their close family members should not be currently residing or working in Israel. Workers going to Israel will receive a minimum salary of approximately 5,881.50 Israeli currency per month.

In addition, overtime facilities, annual leave, and food facilities will be available as per rules. Although the employer will arrange accommodation according to Israeli law, the worker will have to bear the specified expenses themselves, as mentioned in the notice. The initial contract period will be one year and can be extended up to a maximum of 5 years.

Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the Department of Foreign Employment's online portal ferms.dofe.gov.np. The deadline for application is 21 days from today, i.e., until 12:00 PM on Asar 7, 2083 B.S.

A passport, a recent photograph, educational certificates, training certificates, and a character certificate issued by the Nepal Police must be uploaded for the application. 
Among the received applications, the details of candidates who meet the minimum criteria will be sent to Israel for 'name check'. The final selection will be made through a lottery among the candidates who are approved from there. The department has stated that this process will be completely transparent and fair.

The cost of airfare, health check-up, insurance, welfare fund amount, and orientation training for this employment will have to be borne by the worker themselves. According to the department, the airfare will be according to the prevailing market rate, while other administrative and service charges will be as specified. The department has requested everyone not to fall for any temptation and to proceed with the process only based on official information.
