Dubai Consulate Tightens Personal Visa Verification for Nepali Workers

Kathmandu. The Nepali Consulate General in Dubai has tightened personal visa verification procedures as the number of Nepali workers arriving in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on personal visas getting stranded and falling into various problems has increased.

It has been observed that some companies bringing in workers on personal visas lack credibility, and these companies are not taking responsibility for visa, Emirates ID, and insurance arrangements after the workers arrive in the UAE.

Furthermore, the Consulate General has taken this step due to a large number of complaints, such as workers not finding jobs in the companies and having to search for employment elsewhere. The Consulate General has clarified that personal visa verification will now only be done in five specific situations, in accordance with the 'Directive on the Process of Obtaining Labor Approval for Workers Going for Foreign Employment on Personal Labor Approval 2069'.

Under the new system, verification for a worker's visa for the company they are employed with will only be done if they submit official documents proving kinship. Such kinship relationships include only mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister, husband, and wife.

Similarly, if an individual is returning to work for a company they previously worked for, they must submit documents such as the Emirates ID obtained based on their previous employment.
If an individual wishes to come for skilled work by finding employment independently through the internet or other means, a rule has been made requiring the submission of the individual's profile, the company's profile, and documents proving the individual's skills match the job.

In addition to these, personal visas will also be verified if a written request is received from a UAE government agency, diplomatic mission, or relevant officials there. Likewise, if a worker employed by a UAE company returns to their home country, their visa will be verified if documents confirm their previous employment in the UAE.

However, for workers employed as domestic or private workers, there is a mandatory condition that their visa must be valid until September 2024.

The Consulate General has also requested that detailed procedures and documents required for personal visa verification can be viewed on their official website link.
