Nepal Weather Forecast: Heatwave in West, Rain in East

Kathmandu. According to the latest details from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, two different weather patterns will be observed in various parts of the country on Monday. On one hand, there is a possibility of a 'heatwave' in the Terai regions of Sudurpashchim and Lumbini provinces, while on the other hand, rain with thunderstorms is forecast in most of the hilly, central, and eastern parts of the country.

During the afternoon, especially the western Terai districts will be affected by extreme heat. Heatwave is forecast in Dipayal, Dhangadhi, and Nepalgunj in the afternoon. The maximum temperature in these cities is estimated to reach between 38 to 41 degrees Celsius, with Dhangadhi and Nepalgunj potentially reaching the highest temperature of 41 degrees Celsius.

Similarly, Birendranagar, Ghorahi, and Bhairahawa will experience 'hot days', with temperatures ranging between 36 to 40 degrees Celsius. During the night, the weather in these hot cities is expected to be mostly clear, with partial clouds in Bhairahawa.

While the western Terai will be under scorching heat, other major cities in the country are expected to receive rain. Pokhara and Taplejung have the highest probability (60 percent) of experiencing moderate rain with thunderstorms both in the afternoon and at night. The federal capital Kathmandu is also forecast to have moderate rain with thunderstorms in the afternoon and at night, with the maximum temperature in the afternoon reaching between 29 to 31 degrees Celsius. Additionally, Okhaldhunga, Dhankuta, Biratnagar, Dharan, and Jiri are also likely to experience moderate rain with thunderstorms both in the afternoon and at night.

The weather in the hilly and mountainous districts will also be rainy. In Dadeldhura, a hilly district of Sudurpashchim, light rain with thunderstorms is expected in the afternoon, but the weather will be clear at night. Jumla will experience light rain in the afternoon and continuous rain at night, while Jomsom has a possibility of light rain in the afternoon and moderate rain at night. In the Terai cities of Simara and Janakpur, there will only be partial clouds in the afternoon, but moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected at night, according to the weather forecast.

Overall, some parts of the west will experience extreme heat, while the weather in most parts of the country will be somewhat cooler due to rain.
