Weather Forecast: Mixed Effects Across Nepal, Heatwave Expected in West

Kathmandu. Currently, Nepal's weather is experiencing mixed effects of westerly and local winds along with a low-pressure area near the eastern part of the country. Due to this, the possibility of severe weather conditions is increasing in various parts of the country.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the Koshi Province, along with the hilly and mountainous regions of Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces, is generally cloudy. Similarly, the hilly regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces are also covered by clouds.

The Madhesh Province, along with the hilly and mountainous regions of the remaining Lumbini Province, has partly cloudy weather, while the weather in the remaining Terai regions is mostly clear. Currently, some places in the Koshi and Gandaki Provinces are experiencing moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning, while one or two places in the Bagmati Province are experiencing light rain.

Looking at Monday's weather, the Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces are expected to have general cloud cover. The Madhesh Province and the hilly and mountainous regions of the remaining provinces will have partial cloudiness, while the weather in the remaining Terai regions will be mostly clear.

According to the Department, some places in the Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces may experience adverse weather. Similarly, there is a possibility of moderate rain or snowfall with thunderstorms and lightning in some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of the Madhesh Province, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

In contrast, the western parts of the country are expected to be affected by heat, impacting daily life. The Department has urged caution as there is a possibility of hot days in the hilly regions of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini Provinces and extreme heat with heatwaves ('Loo') in the Terai regions.
