Koshi Province Assembly Discusses Annual Policy and Program

Biratnagar. Discussion has started on the annual policy and program presented for the fiscal year 2083/84 of the Koshi Province government in today's meeting of the Koshi Province Assembly. The discussion started after the proposal made by the Chief Minister of the Province Government, Hikmat Kumar Karki, to commence discussion on the annual policy and program was presented for decision by the Speaker Ambar Bahadur Bisht and approved unanimously.

In the discussion, Koshi Province Assembly member Sapana Darji claimed that although the policy and program are good in words, the included subject matter is not implementable. Member Rajendra Karki expressed the view that although tourism, infrastructure, agriculture, and employment are included in the policy and program, the government must allocate sufficient budget for its implementation.

Member Ganesh Upreti stated that it is unfortunate that the policy and program remain silent on the issue of squatters. Member Hom Bahadur Thapa expressed confidence that the policy and program, which encompass all sectors, will play a guiding role in the development of the province. Member Baburam Gautam claimed that the expected public will not benefit from the policy and program brought without consulting the stakeholders.

Member Radhakrishna Khanal expressed the view that the government's policy and program have raised hopes of making the province 'clean, happy, and prosperous'. Member Premraj Thamsang commented that considering the subject matter of the policy and program brought by the government in the absence of sufficient resources of the province, it will help determine the bright future of the general public.

Member Jaiprakash Chaudhary expressed the view that the policy and program are citizen-friendly, provincial plans, and encourage domestic and foreign investment. Member Kishor Chandra Dulal stated that the annual budget to be formed from this policy and program, which reflects the government's roadmap, clarifies the government's path.

In today's meeting, the 'Provincial Sports (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2083' has been approved. The next meeting of the assembly will be held on Jestha 11 at 1 PM.
