Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel Congratulates Nepali Women's Football Team

Kathmandu. Minister for Education, Sports and Culture, Sasmit Pokharel, has stated that the state still has a lot of work to do for the development of the sports sector and the respect of the players. 

He said this on Thursday while bidding farewell to the Nepali women's national football team with best wishes for their victory at the ministry. Speaking at the farewell program organized for the team participating in the SAFF Women's Championship, Minister Pokharel said that the government is working to boost the morale of the players. Minister Pokharel praised the recent performance of the Nepali women's football team at the international level. He mentioned that the team's improving game has made the country proud. Acknowledging that the state has not been able to do as much as it should for the sports sector, he said that the government will always strive for the development of the sports sector and the professional development of the players by making the best use of the limited resources available. Expressing happiness over the balanced mix of experienced and new players in the team, the minister urged the senior players to guide the juniors and the new players to learn from the seniors. 

On the occasion, Minister Pokharel remembered the contributions of the players who could not be included in the team due to injury and wished them a speedy recovery. At the end of his speech, Minister Pokharel urged the team to play with high morale. Minister Pokharel said, 'I want to self-criticize that the state has not been able to do as much as it should for the sports sector, but the government will always strive for the development of the sports sector and the professional development of the players by making the best use of the limited resources available.' He further added, 'Your improvement and hard work on the field are commendable. The energy and confidence seen in this hall today make me fully confident that we will win the title this time. Give your best performance on the field, victory is definitely possible, and I promise to be present myself at the airport to welcome you when you return as champions.' The farewell program was attended by officials from the National Sports Council (NSC), representatives from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), and players.
