Central Film Examination Committee Name Changed

Kathmandu. The English name of the Central Film Examination Committee has been changed. Previously written as 'Central Board of Film Censor' in English, it has been changed to 'Central Film Examination Committee'.

Member Secretary of the committee, Mamata Bastola, informed that the name has been changed because the English name appeared unnatural according to the Nepali name of the committee.

'The English name on the certificate provided by the committee will now be 'Central Film Examination Committee', while the Nepali name will remain the same, Central Film Examination Committee', Bastola said. 'Although the committee's name has been practiced as Censor Board since before, when translating the Nepali name into English, it turned out to be 'Central Film Examination Committee'.' Bastola stated that the name was adjusted according to the Nepali name rather than being changed through a procedure or act.

The previous committee of the censor had changed the procedure itself, stating that it would not cut films and would provide a certificate with 'grading' after examination.
