Nepali Film 'Elephants in the Fog' Premieres at Cannes Film Festival 2026

Kathmandu. Nepali film 'Elephants in the Fog' directed by Avinash Bikram Shah has premiered at the ongoing 'Cannes Film Festival-2026' in France. The film received praise from everyone at the premiere held on Wednesday. After the film ended, everyone present applauded the film, showing respect for it.

After watching the premiere film, famous Bollywood film director Anurag Kashyap praised 'Elephants in the Fog' extensively. He shared his reaction on social media, stating that the Nepali film has made a big leap.

'Elephants in the Fog' is the first Nepali feature film to be selected in the prestigious 'Un Certain Regard' section of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.

'Elephants in the Fog' is Avinash Bikram Shah's debut film as a director. The film has been produced with international collaboration from Nepal, France, Germany, Brazil, and Norway.

The film features actors such as Pushpa Thing, Deepika Yadav, Jasmine Bishwakarma, Aliz Ghimire, Joel Gurung, Umesh Pandey. Gauri Malla, Maotse Gurung, Shanti Giri, Sanjay Gupta Dura, Mahima Navbag, Ashant Sharma, Anil Kurmi, Akanksha Karki have also acted.

Produced by Kumudini Gurung Shrestha, Soham Dhakal, Prachandaman Shrestha from Jayanti Creation, and Anup Poudel from Underground Talkies Nepal, the film has multiple producers.
