National Janamorcha Objects to Chief Justice Appointment

Kathmandu. National Janamorcha has expressed objection to the recent appointment of the Chief Justice.  

A meeting of the party's central office held on Saturday determined that the said appointment was directed with the objective of bringing the Chief Justice under the government's control.

The press statement issued by Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC mentions that the newly appointed Chief Justice is not a suitable candidate for the post. The party claims that due to his past judgments, the government's income suffered significant losses, and this step confirms that his perspective is not justice-oriented. The party has questioned the eligibility for appointment, stating, 'There is no doubt that the judgment proves his perspective is not justice-oriented'.

The party has also protested the bypassing of the established seniority in the Supreme Court for a long time, sidelining other eligible judges. The statement mentions that the government took this step to get work done according to its interests and to place the judiciary under the executive.

The party concludes that this process will end the independence and impartiality of the Supreme Court and deal a serious blow to democratic values. Through the statement, a warning has also been issued against political interference in the judiciary.
