17 Drivers Apprehended in Rupandehi for Drug Use While Operating Public Vehicles

Butwal. Police have taken 17 drivers under control for operating public transport vehicles after consuming drugs in Rupandehi. The District Police Office Rupandehi, while conducting surprise checks on the Siddhartha Highway and various inner road sections under "Operation Delta", apprehended them.

According to the police, based on specific information that public transport drivers were operating vehicles after consuming drugs, a joint team was mobilized, and 17 individuals were found, said DSP Krishna Kumar Chand of the District Police Office Rupandehi.

Technicians from the District Police Office Rupandehi, Narcotics Control Bureau Branch Office Bhairahawa, District Traffic Police Office Rupandehi, and Nepal Lumbini Provincial Police Hospital Nepalgunj participated in the campaign.

During the check, urine tests were conducted on 100 drivers of public vehicles operating with passengers. Police stated that after 17 individuals tested positive for drug consumption during the tests, they were taken under control.

The District Police Office Rupandehi has stated that necessary action is being initiated against the apprehended drivers in accordance with the Narcotics Control Act, 2033. Police have indicated that such campaigns will be continued as driving under the influence of drugs can lead to major accidents and loss of life and property.
