Bagmati Chief Minister Indrabahadur Baniya Objects to Raid on Home and Offices

Hetauda. Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indrabahadur Baniya has objected to the raid on his home and offices.

On Monday, a team from the Department of Anti-Money Laundering Investigation raided Chief Minister Baniya's residence in Hetauda-5 and various offices of Baniya Construction Service, owned by him.

Following the incident, Chief Minister Baniya released a press statement on Monday making his stance public. Claiming that he has prioritized good governance, transparency, and the creation of a corruption-free society since becoming Chief Minister, Baniya stated that he has been continuously working to reduce expenditure and ensure financial prudence in the operation of the Bagmati Province Government.

"The three tiers of government operate on the basis of coordination, coexistence, and cooperation," Chief Minister Baniya said in the statement. "The Chief Minister will always support the federal government in its positive actions as the leader of the provincial government."

Chief Minister Baniya also clarified that he is ready to cooperate with any action taken by any level of the state in favor of good governance.

"I have taken the investigation into my political and professional life positively," he said in the statement. "However, the raid conducted in the name of the Department of Anti-Money Laundering Investigation, as reported in various media, has hurt my personal and social character. I object to the raid conducted abruptly when I am physically present whenever requested by any body of the state."

He also expressed his commitment to fully support and cooperate with any investigation conducted within the constitutional and legal framework. He said, "I request the people of Bagmati Province and my well-wishers and sympathizers not to be confused or worried by the raid conducted by the Department of Anti-Money Laundering Investigation."
