Woman Arrested for Stealing Gold Earrings from Child in Pokhara

Pokhara. On the afternoon of April 6, a woman met a 6-year-old girl in Ramchowk, Hemja, Pokhara 25. She lured her by saying she was her mother's friend and even gave her juice and ice cream. Then she took off the gold earrings the girl was wearing and fled.

A complaint was filed with the police that earrings worth approximately 1 lakh rupees were stolen. The police started studying the CCTV footage around the scene. In the footage, a woman wearing a yellow raincoat was seen taking the girl on a scooter with number G 25 P 3584. It was revealed that the scooter was rented.

After that, the police identified the woman. During the search, she was arrested on April 17 from Mahendrapul, Pokhara 9. When checked on the crime record system, Ambika, who was arrested, was confirmed to be a serial thief.

According to Kaski District Police Spokesperson DSP Haribahadur Basnet, she still has to serve jail time and pay fines in 18 separate cases related to theft and robbery, which were decided in 2079 BS (Bikram Sambat). 

In most of these cases, she was sentenced to 2 years to 6 months in jail and a fine of 20 thousand to 5 thousand rupees. All those verdicts were made on June 8 and June 22, 2079 BS.

She, who had been absconding for a long time, was arrested again while stealing children's jewelry. Basnet informed that the police have extended her remand by 7 days from the court for further investigation into the new offense of theft and robbery.
