Sankhuwasabha Police Arrest Fugitive Convicted of Rape

Sankhuwasabha. The District Police Office Sankhuwasabha has arrested a defendant who was convicted in a rape case and was absconding.

Police have taken into custody from Sunsari the 28-year-old Tilak alias Akash Rai, who was sentenced by the High Court Biratnagar, Dhankuta Bench on October 9, 2080, to 12 years imprisonment and a compensation of 20,000 rupees.

Rai, a permanent resident of Ward No. 1, Panchkapan Municipality, Sankhuwasabha, had been absconding for a long time. A special team dispatched from the Area Police Office, Chainpur, arrested him on April 18, 2083, around 6:50 PM from Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City Ward No. 1, Sunsari.

According to Police Inspector Meghraj Aryal, the Information Officer of the District Police Office Sankhuwasabha, necessary procedures have been initiated for the execution of the sentence for the arrested Rai.
