KP Sharma Oli Extends Buddha Jayanti Wishes, Cites Historical Significance

Kathmandu. CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has stated that approximately 2650 years ago today, humanity witnessed the light of compassion.

Extending wishes on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, Oli, who is also a former Prime Minister, said that the harbinger of peace, Siddhartha Gautam, attained enlightenment on this very day, and that Buddha was received by human civilization.

'2570 years ago on this day, he attained Mahaparinirvana. On this holy day of Gautam Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana, I wish for mutual peace, tolerance, and friendship within our country and among all countries of the world,' Oli said. 'On the occasion of this day, which disseminates the eternal message of guiding human civilization towards the path of truth, non-violence, compassion, and peace, I extend heartfelt wishes to all.'

He expressed his wish that the lamp of compassion be lit in the inner hearts of all on this occasion.
