Students Protest Soaring Inflation with Digital Demonstrations at Amrit Campus

Kathmandu. Students at Amrit Campus (Askal) have staged creative protests citing the hardships faced by students due to rising inflation. Under the leadership of the Free Students Union (SWoSU) of Amrit Campus, students held a symbolic protest using 'digital' means within the classroom on Monday.

According to SWoSU Chairman Rudra Hari Pokharel, the protest with digital placards in the classroom was held to draw attention to the increased financial burden on students and the government's indifference. During the protest, students publicly shared slogans on social media and digital platforms such as 'Burden of Inflation, Burden on Students, Give 45% Discount, Government!' and 'Control Inflation, or Face the Movement!'

The SWoSU has specifically demanded that the concessions students have been receiving be fully implemented and that the price hikes in daily consumer goods be controlled immediately. Chairman Pokharel stated, 'We have now raised our voices symbolically from within the classroom; if the government does not control inflation and address the students' demands, we will be forced to take to the streets in a strong protest.'
