At Least 14 Killed in Lebanon Amidst Israeli Military Operations

Kathmandu. At least 14 people were killed in Lebanon on Sunday in Israeli military operations, despite the ongoing ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the deceased include two children and two women, while 37 others were injured.

The Israeli Defense Forces launched 'artillery and air' strikes immediately after warning to vacate some villages in southern Lebanon. Israel stated that the area was targeted, claiming that Hezbollah fighters and military sites were preparing to attack Israeli soldiers.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire, stating that Israel was taking strict measures to defend itself and neutralize immediate threats. According to Netanyahu, Israel is acting within the framework of the agreement with the United States and Lebanon.

Meanwhile, an 19-year-old Israeli soldier was killed in Lebanon due to a Hezbollah drone attack, while six others were injured. Israel also claimed to have shot down three Hezbollah drones in the air as they approached the Israeli border.

The ceasefire between the two countries, which came into effect on April 16, was recently extended for three weeks. However, both sides have accused each other of violating the agreement. In a previous attack on Saturday, six people were killed in southern Lebanon.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are also underway to de-escalate regional tensions.
