Three Literary Figures Honored at Parijat Memorial Event in Chitwan

Chitwan. Three literary figures were honored at a program organized by Sahitya Sangam Chitwan. The event, held on the 33rd memorial day of Parijat, the novelist of the 2022 Madan Puraskar-winning novel 'Shirishko Phool' who held progressive ideologies, was chaired by Sangam President Shashikiran Regmi.

Former Sangam President Prakash Chapagain delivered the welcome speech, while senior researcher DR Pokharel provided insights into Parijat's personality and literary contributions. During the session, Pokharel stated that there is much to learn from Parijat, who was a rebel by nature, advocated for the poor and underprivileged, and stood for patriotism and self-respect.

Sanjeev Poudel gave brief remarks about the three honored creators. Academician Ramhari Shrestha shed light on the objectives of the awards and their establishment.

During the program, RB Nishchal from Palpa was awarded the 'Netramaya-Muktinarayan Bhattarai Memorial National Award-2082' established by Dr. Dhaneshwar Bhattarai (and family), Bhawani Chhetri from Jhapa was awarded the 'Khadganarayan-Ganeshlakshmi Shrestha Memorial National Women's Talent Award-2082' established by Ramhari Shrestha (and family), and Khanal Revatiraman from Chitwan was awarded the 'Gajadhar-Dikuradevi Chetkanth Chapagain Memorial National Award-2082' established by Prakash Chapagain (and family).

The honored creators, who received certificates and a cash prize of 18,000, also recited one poem each. During the event, a poem by senior litterateur Kunta Sharma gained significant attention.

The program was attended by Prof. Dr. Narayan Prasad Khanal, Prof. Dr. Karna Baniya, Indra Regmi, Uday Adhikari, Ramesh Prabhat, Rajendra Ghayal, Vishnu Tiwari 'Usha', Shivraj Lamichhane, Suryaprakash Jamarkattel, Dr. Eknarayan Poudyal, Dr. Keshav Chalise, Balkrishna Thapaliya, Amrita Ramdam, Krishna Sharma 'Karuna', Suryamani Regmi, Kisan Premi, Haripriya Rijal, and others. The program was conducted by Sangam Secretary Liladhar Poudel.
