Authorities deploy bulldozers to clear squatter settlements in Thapathali

Kathmandu. Bulldozers have been deployed at the squatter settlement in Thapathali. The demolition drive aims to remove unauthorized squatter settlements located on public and government land along the banks of the Bagmati River. 

Initially, two bulldozers have been put into operation. Police are assisting in evacuating residents from the settlement. Security in the area has been tightened. A large number of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Municipal Police are currently deployed.

According to the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Force, after completing the operation in Thapathali, the squatter settlement in Gairigaun is also scheduled to be cleared today.
