Kathmandu Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol Pledges Support for Removing Unauthorized Structures

Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor and Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol has clarified that the metropolis will provide full support to the federal government in removing unauthorized structures along riverbanks and public areas within the city. Making the metropolis's official stance public via social media, she committed to paying special attention to humanitarian aspects while protecting public, government, and community land.

Dangol stated that the Metropolitan City will play a supportive role in implementing the decisions and requests made by the relevant ministries of the Government of Nepal and the District Administration Office to remove encroachments along riverbanks. Sharing the conclusion of discussions held among members of the Municipal Executive, she said that the process of removing unauthorized structures will adhere to the minimum values and norms of human rights.

Acting Mayor Dangol emphasized that special care will be taken for senior citizens, the sick, pregnant women, children, and persons with disabilities during the removal process. The metropolis will strive to carry out this task in a manner that is as dispute-free, safe, and lawful as possible. She clarified that respectful human treatment will be demonstrated during the removal of structures, and management will be conducted in a way that does not contradict the principles of justice.

Dangol has also made a heartfelt appeal to all stakeholders, officials, and the general public to provide necessary support and coordination in this important campaign to protect public property.
