Police arrest two more individuals ahead of squatter settlement clearance in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. Police have arrested two additional individuals on suspicion of potentially obstructing the removal of squatter settlements. The arrested individuals are 41-year-old Rajkumar Lama and 52-year-old Arjun Kunwar.

SSP Santosh Khadka of the Valley Crime Investigation Office confirmed to Ratopati that they were arrested last night. The government is set to begin removing houses and huts from the squatter settlements in Thapathali, Gairigaun, and Manahara Phant starting today.

Rajkumar Lama, who was arrested, resides in Balaju. Arjun Kunwar, originally from Parbat Phalebas-11, has been living in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-11.

Previously, police had arrested RN Kunwar, General Secretary of the United National Squatter Front; advisor Dalmardan Kami; Dinesh Sunar; and Narayan Pariyar, acting chairman of the Squatter Front. The number of people arrested on suspicion of potentially obstructing the clearance has now reached six.
