Residents scramble as authorities move to clear unauthorized settlements in Thapathali

Kathmandu. Residents of unauthorized squatter settlements on public and government land along the Bagmati River in Thapathali are in despair following the deployment of police to clear the area.

Upon learning that bulldozers would be deployed in the morning, residents began frantically moving their remaining belongings. The administration had issued a notice on Friday, urging them to vacate their huts and relocate their personal items, clothing, and livestock to safe locations.

Those who had ignored the order on Friday have also begun moving their belongings on Saturday.
