Government Prepares to Clear Squatter Settlements Along Kathmandu Riverbanks

Kathmandu. As the government prepares to clear squatter settlements along the riverbanks of the Kathmandu Valley, residents in the Manohara, Thapathali, and Gairigaun areas are currently either relocating their belongings or protesting against the move. 

Following government directives, police began making public announcements in the affected areas starting Thursday evening. 

Squatters have been notified to vacate the settlements by Friday evening. It is reported that public announcements will continue throughout the day today, and preparations are underway to deploy bulldozers in the Manohara, Thapathali, and Gairigaun areas starting early Saturday morning.
