Flash floods in Afghanistan leave at least 6 dead

Kabul. At least 6 people have died in flash floods caused by heavy rainfall in various parts of Afghanistan, local officials confirmed on Thursday.

Mawlawi Baridad Saber, head of the Natural Disaster Management Committee in the western province of Badghis, stated that floods occurred in various areas of Bala Murghab district on Wednesday night following heavy rains.

Officials reported that five people, including three children and two women, died due to the floods in Badghis province, which also caused damage to residential homes and agricultural land in the affected areas.

In the Dara-i-Suf Payin district of Samangan province in northern Afghanistan, one person died in floods that occurred on Thursday following heavy rainfall, according to provincial police.

Although various parts of the northern Faryab province were swept by floods, no casualties were reported. The Afghanistan Meteorological Department has forecasted further rain and flooding in some parts of the country on Thursday.
