Police Seize 60 Quintals of Illicit Corn in Rupandehi

Rupandehi. Police have seized a large quantity of corn being illegally exported to India from the border area of Rupandehi. A team deployed from the District Police Office, Rupandehi, confiscated two jeeps along with 60 quintals of corn from Rohini Rural Municipality-2, Mainihawa today.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganesh Sapkota of the District Police Office stated that the corn was discovered during a search based on specific intelligence while being transported in jeeps bearing license plates Lu 1 Ja 4610 and Lu 1 Ja 2925.

The total value of the seized corn and vehicles is estimated at approximately Rs 2.15 million. Police have arrested the driver involved in the incident, 33-year-old Dilip Yadav from Mayadevi Rural Municipality-7. He stated that the arrested individual and the seized materials have been sent to the Bhairahawa Customs Office for further legal action.
