Prachanda Views Recent Setbacks as Opportunity for Internal Reform within Communist Movement

Kathmandu. Nepal Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has stated that while the communist movement has suffered a temporary setback, it serves as an opportunity to cleanse internal impurities.

Addressing a program held at the party office on Wednesday to mark the party's establishment day, the former Prime Minister remarked, 'It is evident that the communist movement has faced a temporary setback. We must learn from this and conduct an objective review of where we went wrong.'

Prachanda acknowledged the recent electoral losses, noting that such setbacks are lessons taught by the people.

'These setbacks are also an opportunity to clean up the filth that has accumulated within us. Perhaps while sitting in the seats of power, we became tainted,' Prachanda said. 'The people have not rejected us out of hatred, but have taught us a lesson to wash up and return clean. Therefore, we must view this as an opportunity to purge our internal impurities.'

He stated that there is no difficulty in admitting past mistakes and weaknesses, citing Lenin's view that the distinction between communists and the bourgeoisie lies in the willingness to acknowledge errors.

Former Prime Minister Prachanda also mentioned that he is initiating dialogues with various parties from a new perspective, aiming to bring all nationalist forces together to confront the challenges facing the nation.
