98 Drivers Penalized in Kathmandu Valley Traffic Crackdown

Kathmandu. During a special 'surprise checking' campaign conducted by traffic police in various locations of the Kathmandu Valley, 98 vehicle drivers were penalized. The operation, carried out on Monday with the objective of ensuring safe road travel, targeted drivers violating traffic regulations.

According to the police, among those penalized, 7 drivers were found operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol. The traffic police stated that strict action was taken against them as driving under the influence is illegal and poses a life-threatening risk.

Similarly, 91 other drivers who failed to comply with general traffic rules were also brought under the scope of action. These include those who violated red lights, failed to maintain lane discipline, and breached road rules. The traffic police have stated that they will continue such surprise checking campaigns for road safety in the coming days.
