US National Arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport for Possession of Suspicious Oil

Kathmandu. A US national has been arrested at Tribhuvan International Airport for possessing restricted oil suspected to be cannabis or hemp extract. According to the Airport Security Office, the arrested individual is 46-year-old US citizen Ognian Petrov. Petrov, holding a US passport, was attempting to fly from Kathmandu to Delhi via an Air India flight on Friday.

During the screening process at the airport's 'hold baggage checking' area, his luggage appeared suspicious on the X-ray machine. Upon inspection, security personnel discovered five bottles, each containing 1.25 liters of oil suspected to be cannabis or hemp extract.

According to Airport Security Office spokesperson and information officer Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar Silwal, the arrested individual and the seized materials have been handed over to the police team deployed at the airport from the Narcotics Control Bureau for further investigation and legal action.
