Speaker Aryal Pledges to Enhance Parliamentary Transparency and Media Access

Kathmandu. Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has stated his commitment to making parliamentary activities and public access simple and transparent. Speaking at an interaction with journalists at Singha Durbar on Friday, he mentioned that he is a person who provides easy access and stated that he would set new precedents based on the needs of society, moving away from some old precedents of the past.

Responding to questions raised by journalists during the interaction, Speaker Aryal said that his serious attention is focused on where and how the problems seen in the parliament can be solved. Acknowledging that some managerial difficulties have arisen due to the current narrow parliament chamber, he said, 'Since there is no current parliament building, the parliament chamber is narrow, which is why there are some problems. Once the meeting room is properly managed, all these things will improve.'

Speaker Aryal shared his plan to make the parliament open and friendly for citizens and media personnel. He assured that he would coordinate with security agencies to find a solution regarding the entry problems journalists are facing at the Singha Durbar gate.

He stated that although the issue of not allowing journalists to enter through the gate is viewed from a security perspective, he would call the relevant parties for discussion and bring improvements to it.

Additionally, he expressed his commitment to immediately initiate discussions with the secretariat to make the entry of journalists into parliamentary committees and parliament meetings more convenient and organized.
