Students stage 'begging' protest to demand campus infrastructure funding

Kathmandu. Joint student groups staged a satirical protest by 'begging' in the vicinity of Tri-Chandra College to demand infrastructure development for public campuses. The students held the symbolic protest, claiming that the government has repeatedly ignored their requests for budget allocations to improve the quality of dilapidated campus infrastructure.

They stated, 'The government has paid no attention to repairing and strengthening our college's crumbling buildings, classrooms, and laboratories.' Recalling that students had similarly begged for funds in 2004, the students noted that they have adopted the same method today.

According to Tri-Chandra Free Student Union Chairman Govinda Koirala, the funds collected today will be handed over to the government. 'If the government cannot build campus infrastructure, we will now build the campus ourselves through these donations,' he said.
