Kaski Police Arrest 13 for Illegal Ride-Sharing Practices in Pokhara

Kaski. Police have arrested 13 individuals in various areas of Pokhara Metropolitan City for operating as ride-sharing drivers, both affiliated and unaffiliated with platforms like Pathao and inDrive, by transporting passengers through offline methods. A special team deployed from the District Police Office, Kaski, and the Ward Police Office, Baidam, took them into custody on Friday.

The police initiated this action based on complaints and reports regarding drivers transporting passengers by negotiating fares directly without using the apps, overcharging, and causing unnecessary harassment to passengers. Those arrested include 32-year-old Bishnu Bahadur Nepali, 36-year-old Rajan Pariyar, 46-year-old Lil Bahadur Gurung, 22-year-old Pravin Thapa, 31-year-old Nabin Thapa, 46-year-old Deepak Kumar Gurung, and 54-year-old Ammar Bahadur Mahatara.

Similarly, the police also took into custody 32-year-old Madhav Kuinkel, 33-year-old Buddhi Bahadur B.K., 30-year-old Vicky Lama, 40-year-old Krishna Kumal, 32-year-old Min Bahadur Thapa, and 23-year-old Krishna Bahadur Gurung. The arrested individuals, originally from Syangja, Kaski, Tanahun, and Gorkha, were currently residing in various locations in Pokhara.

According to Kaski Police Information Officer, Police Inspector Ganesh Pandey, further investigation and legal proceedings have been initiated against all those arrested. Recently, police have tightened surveillance following an increase in the trend of transporting passengers without using apps and charging arbitrary fares in Pokhara.
