Nepal Weather Update: Mixed Conditions Bring Rain to Hills and Heat to Terai

Kathmandu. Nepal is currently experiencing mixed weather conditions due to the partial influence of westerly and local winds. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, while clouds are intermittent in the hilly and mountainous regions, the Terai districts are witnessing rising temperatures and intense heat.

Currently, the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are experiencing partly cloudy conditions. Some hilly areas of Gandaki province are even seeing light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. While other hilly regions remain partially cloudy, the weather in the Terai remains generally clear.

In its Friday forecast, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology indicated the possibility of rain and snowfall in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Light rain with lightning is expected in a few locations within these provinces. Similarly, light snowfall is projected for one or two high-altitude locations in Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.

While there is a chance of rain in the hills, the Terai and inner Madhesh regions are bracing for increased heat. With the potential for hot days in the Terai areas of Madhesh, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, rising temperatures may impact daily life.
