Sunrisers Hyderabad Captain Pat Cummins Cleared to Return After Injury Recovery

Hyderabad. Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins is set to return to the team after recovering from an injury. Following a recent scan in Sydney, doctors have cleared him to return to the field after confirming his back injury has healed.

Cummins, who has been struggling with the injury since last July, had returned to Australia for a follow-up scan after playing a few matches in this season's IPL. Cummins, who is currently on family leave in Australia, stated that he is preparing to fly to India on Friday and aims to make his comeback in the match against Rajasthan Royals on April 25.

During the West Indies tour, it was confirmed that Cummins suffered from lumbar bone stress. Due to this injury, he missed most of Australia's domestic season and could only participate in the Ashes Test in Adelaide. The injury also caused him to miss the T20 World Cup and affected his consistent presence in the early IPL matches.

In Cummins' absence, Ishan Kishan has been leading Sunrisers Hyderabad. Coach Daniel Vettori noted that even in Cummins' absence, his advice and experience have helped refine Ishan's leadership style.

Hyderabad is currently in fourth place in the points table with two wins in five matches. Although the team could not defend a massive total of 219 runs against Punjab Kings, they made a comeback by defeating Rajasthan Royals by 57 runs in their last match.

Cummins' return is expected to strengthen both the team's bowling and leadership. The coming year looks very busy for Cummins. Australia is scheduled to play at least 20 Test matches between August and next July against Bangladesh, South Africa, New Zealand, India, and England.

Other key Australian bowlers are also undergoing injury management. Although Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Josh Hazlewood has returned to the field after an injury, he is being played cautiously for workload management.

On the other hand, Mitchell Starc, associated with Delhi Capitals, has not yet been able to join the team due to shoulder and elbow injuries sustained during the BBL. In such a situation, Cummins' successful comeback has become welcome news for both the Australian team and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
