Nepali Congress leader Purna Bahadur Khadka dismisses disciplinary notice as 'ridiculous'

Kathmandu. Outgoing Nepali Congress Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka has termed the explanation sought by the Central Disciplinary Committee as meaningless and ridiculous.

Responding to Ratopati after the disciplinary committee decided to seek a 7-day explanation, Khadka said, 'The explanation is meaningless and ridiculous on these grounds.'

The statement issued after the disciplinary committee meeting reads, 'Since the act of issuing a press release by former Nepali Congress Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka on 2082.12.30 without authorization appears to be against the party statute, it is decided to seek a 7 (seven) day explanation as per Article 34, Sub-section 8 (d) of the Nepali Congress Statute 2017 (with amendments).'

Khadka's response to Ratopati following that decision:

The meeting of the Central Working Committee elected from the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress concluded that the unilateral decision made by the Election Commission regarding the Nepali Congress is against the Constitution of Nepal, against prevailing laws, and against the Political Parties Act.

It is against the statute of the Nepali Congress. It is against the precedents set by the Election Commission in decisions regarding issues between parties. The Central Working Committee authorized me, in my capacity as Acting President, to file a case in the honorable Supreme Court. I have taken the case to the Supreme Court in my capacity as Acting President.

After filing the case, the election period arrived. The matter of contesting the election came up. I did not go to contest the election because I believe that participating in the party election with signatures from officials of a committee elected from an illegal special general convention is politically unethical.

That case is currently sub-judice in the honorable Supreme Court. I learned from you just now that I have been asked for an explanation in that situation. The matter of seeking an explanation is meaningless. It is ridiculous, and we believe we will get justice in the case sub-judice in the honorable Supreme Court. We are confident that the honorable Supreme Court will soon decide on the case related to the old party. Everyone must accept the Supreme Court's decision once it is delivered. Things must proceed accordingly. This current explanation is meaningless and ridiculous on these grounds.
