Former Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki still listed as 'PM' on Facebook

Kathmandu. It has been 20 days since interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki officially handed over her office.

However, Karki is still appearing on Facebook with the title of Prime Minister.

Balendra Shah, a senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which secured a comfortable majority in the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21, took the oath of office and secrecy from President Ramchandra Paudel on Chaitra 13 and began his duties.

Yet, on the social media platform Facebook, the profile remains 'PM Sushila Karki'. As of the preparation of this report, the Facebook ID remains active, with a post made just yesterday. From that same ID, Karki extended New Year 2083 greetings to everyone.

Ram Rawal, who served as the press advisor to Karki during her tenure, stated that they attempted to remove 'PM' from the ID on the day she left office, but because it is Meta-verified, it could not be changed for 60 days.

'We tried to remove 'PM' from the ID on the very day she stepped down as Prime Minister. However, since it is Meta-verified, it could not be removed immediately. We started the process that same day. It must be in progress,' Rawal told Ratopati. 'Since it could not be removed immediately, we have kept it as is. This ID was opened using her personal Gmail.'

Rawal added that Meta will now handle the removal.
