Nepali Congress issues 7-day show-cause notice to Purna Bahadur Khadka over disciplinary breach

Kathmandu. The Nepali Congress has issued a 7-day show-cause notice to former acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka for violating party discipline. The decision was made during a meeting of the party's Central Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday, which concluded that Khadka had acted against the party's statute.

The committee determined that Khadka had created a counterfeit party letterhead and issued unauthorized statements claiming responsibilities he does not hold. 

Khadka had issued a similar unauthorized statement on 2082 Chaitra 14. At that time, the Disciplinary Committee decided on 2082 Chaitra 18 to 'warn him for the first time'.

However, the committee stated that despite the warning, Khadka again used a fake Nepali Congress letterhead on 2082 Chaitra 30 to issue a press release claiming he still held his position. The committee noted that this action constitutes a breach of discipline under Article 34, Subsection 8 (d) of the Party Statute 2017 (with amendments). Khadka has been directed to submit a satisfactory explanation within 7 days.

Meanwhile, the Disciplinary Committee has also made significant decisions regarding complaints filed in the context of the 2082 House of Representatives elections. The deadline for filing complaints regarding disciplinary violations by party members during the election has been extended.
Previously, complaints could be filed until the end of 2082 Chaitra, but this has now been extended to the end of 2083 Baishakh. The committee clarified that no action will be taken on any complaints received after the end of Baishakh.

It appears that the Disciplinary Committee has increased its activity to investigate those who engaged in internal sabotage during the election and those who acted anarchically by disregarding party discipline.
