Nomination for Federal Parliament Committee Chairs Scheduled for Thursday

Kathmandu. The nomination registration for the chairpersons of the House of Representatives and joint committees under the Federal Parliament is set to take place on Thursday. Federal Parliament Secretariat Secretary Harka Raj Rai issued a notice setting the nomination time from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Thursday.

The notice states that the nomination for committee chairs will be held at the office of the House of Representatives Secretary in Singha Durbar. Rai's notice further mentions that the list of candidates will be published at 4:30 PM on Thursday. Elections are yet to be held for 10 House of Representatives committees and two joint committees.

On Chaitra 27, the House of Representatives finalized the members for the thematic committees. During the meeting where members were finalized, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal set the date for the election of parliamentary committee chairs for Baisakh 4.

The regulations allow for a member of a committee to be proposed for the position of chair by another member of the same committee, with the support of a third member from that same committee.
