Academic Lecture on Chinese Modernization Held in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. An academic lecture on Chinese modernization was organized in Kathmandu. The event, hosted by the Friends of Silk Road Club-Nepal on Monday, featured Professor Zhang Jiadong, Director of the Center for South Asian Studies at Fudan University, China, as the keynote speaker.

During his address, Professor Zhang provided detailed insights into the unique model of Chinese modernization. He emphasized how China achieved extraordinary economic growth through gradual economic reforms, strong institutional capacity, and the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

He specifically noted that China's rapid poverty reduction and technological advancements have become subjects of global study. Zhang also discussed the foundations of China's foreign policy, focusing on the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and maintaining friendly and inclusive relations with neighboring nations.

The dialogue also featured a special discussion on Nepal-China relations and the significance of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Zhang stressed the need to further strengthen historical ties while expanding economic cooperation and people-to-people relations.

He stated that projects under the BRI have opened new doors for regional connectivity and development for countries like Nepal. At the end of the program, an interactive session was held to address queries from participants regarding governance systems and economic sustainability.

The event saw the participation of students, professors, policymakers, and professionals from various fields.
