Instagram Rolls Out Long-Awaited Comment Editing Feature

Kathmandu. Instagram has launched a highly anticipated feature for its users. Users can now edit comments on posts even after they have been published. This feature is expected to be highly useful for correcting errors or typos made in haste.

According to the company, this feature is being rolled out gradually to users worldwide. Following the new update, users will be able to edit comments within 15 minutes of posting. Within this time frame, users are allowed to modify their responses as many times as they wish, with no set limit on the number of edits.

To edit a comment, users need to tap on their comment, where a new 'Edit' option will now appear. Clicking on this option will open a pop-up where the text can be corrected and 'saved'. However, there are some limitations to this feature. Users can only edit text; if a comment contains an image or media file, it cannot be changed.

For transparency, Instagram will display a grey 'Edited' label below the modified comment. This will inform other users that the comment has been updated. However, Instagram has not provided a version history feature, meaning others will not be able to see what was written previously.

Previously, X also introduced an edit feature, but it is not available for free to everyone. This facility was already available on Instagram's sister platform, Threads. 

By eliminating the hassle of deleting comments for minor mistakes, this update from Instagram is expected to make the user experience more seamless and effective.
