Nepal Government Mandates Breastfeeding Rooms and Enhanced Hygiene Standards at Airports

Kathmandu. The government has directed the establishment of breastfeeding and infant care rooms at Tribhuvan International Airport and all airports across the country within 24 hours.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has also instructed that breastfeeding and infant care rooms must ensure privacy and safety, be upgraded as needed, and that primary care rooms for patients and passengers with special needs must be operational.

Directives have been issued to maintain airport cleanliness in accordance with international standards, implement a daily cleaning 'logbook' system, and adhere to health protocols set by the World Health Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization. Furthermore, the provision of free 'sanitary pads' for female passengers in restrooms has been mandated.

The Ministry has ordered the implementation of these directives and the submission of progress reports. Secretary at the Ministry, Mukunda Prasad Niraula, stated in the issued directive that the general public and passengers should inform the Ministry's Information Officer if these three government directives are not being implemented.
