Deputy Speaker to be sworn in today following House election

Kathmandu. The swearing-in ceremony for the Deputy Speaker is scheduled to take place today. The Office of the President at Shital Niwas has confirmed that the oath-taking ceremony is set for 6:00 PM this evening.

The House of Representatives meeting at 4:00 PM today will elect the new Deputy Speaker. The contest for the position is between Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Saraswati Lama and Shram Sanskriti Party lawmaker Ruby Kumari Thakur.

In the 275-member House of Representatives, the RSP holds 182 votes alone. With the party's support for Thakur, her election is certain.
