UN Secretary-General Guterres condemns Israeli strikes in Lebanon

Kathmandu. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned the attacks carried out by Israel in Lebanon on Wednesday.  In a statement, Secretary-General Guterres strongly denounced the strikes, noting that the majority of those who lost their lives were innocent civilians. 

The ongoing military activity in Lebanon is reported to pose a serious risk to the US-Iran ceasefire and efforts for lasting peace in the region. The Secretary-General has called on the relevant parties to immediately end the conflict, emphasizing the need to respect international law and protect civilians.

Stressing that there can be no military solution to the conflict, he urged all parties to utilize diplomatic channels and remain committed to the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701.
